i take it you all saw this?

I think Anthony is right - as ever = it's a Ti Sports frame, like the Konas.
And I guess if it said "Hei Hei" on the top tube it would have sold for much more. Somebody got a real bargain.

i didnt even open the link...youre all talking about the mongoose ti frame right?....that one still hurts.

what an utter bargain. looks like itll build into a fab ride

.....but on second (and third, and fourth) inspection, I wouldnt be willing to bet large amounts of money on it being Ti.... it does have a hint of nicely welded painted steel.
Perhaps that what kept the bidding low? along with the fairly poor description

I'd accept that bet. It has a hint of competently welded Ti.
The tubing shapes and welds have major similarities to my TST Hei Hei.

I bow to your experience sire, it does look painted though, and the b/b shell looks a bit steelish on that particular photo.

Yeah, the photos are a bit "soft", so it "looks" like the frame could be painted. And the close-up photo of the welding is the same, so doesn't really help.

I reckoned it was Ti because the tube shapes are very basic and almost identical to other Ti-Sports frames of that age. If it was older steel (or modern ti), it would probably have some fancy tube profiles and bends - rather than the Ti equivalent of plain-gauge "gas-pipe".
