i phone help

Try installing/launching iTunes and plugging it in. Assuming iTunes doesn't offer to restore the phone hold the power and home button down for at least 10 seconds then let go of the power button.

If you get the timing right iTunes will offer to do a factory restore for you. It's all about the timing and you'll probably have to go through it several times. If the USB screen comes up on the iPhone that's a good sign !

Jailbreaking a phone isn't something I'd do as "casually" as suggested here... I guess you just found out one of the reasons.

It will take a while to restore, if it is going to do it, patience is better than assuming the worst and unplugging it. Your phone no longer has a valid or viable OS on it since you tried to hack it and corrupted it. iTunes will try and restore it by completely wiping the phone and rebuilding it from scratch, software wise.

If iTunes is telling you it's restoring it then it normally is :)

take it to your local non anglo saxon phone crackers
usually in a shopping center near to you

if its an O2 phone just ask them to unlock it, the ime number is on the sim card holder, O2 dont charge for unlocking their phones :)
once you get the message telling you it's unlocked remove the sim card, plug it into your pc and let it do it's thing..... you now have a sim free iphone :)

you dont need the sim card, o2 will contact apple and tell them to unlock the phone and make it network free, all you need is the IME number and possibly the original phone number linked to that phone
I was given a 3GS that was on Orange, all they wanted was the IME number and the original phone number, plus £25! 3 days later they emailed me the instuctions (below) on how to unlock it and its been fine ever since :) I did the same with my old 3GS, went from O2 to Tesco's mobile and the unlock procedure was exactly the same and is less hassle, safer and more reliable than jail breaking it!

****Please note there is no code required to unlock your iphone/ipad****

****Please make sure a back up is taken of your iphone/ipad*****

1) Insert a non-Orange 3G SIM card. This must be a network provider who also supplies the iphone/ipad.

2) Switch ON the handset.

3) Use the “restore” option within iTunes

4) The handset should then display: USB cable and iTunes icon.

5) Disconnect from USB then re-connect

6) Synchronise device with iTunes

7) Once synchronised a message will appear on iTunes stating “Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked”

8) Follow on screen set up instructions to enable new carrier settings

Your handset should now be successfully unlocked.

Should this not show, please keep other network 3G sim in the iphone and restore the iphone via iTunes making sure all data is backed up first.
