House full of mates, beers in the bath.

What a game! Well, the last fifteen minutes at least.

Great to see Ronaldo get on the scoresheet too. What a professional Alex turned the lad into.

I wanted to link to another thread about all the foreigners in the British game and point out Bale was bought from a second tier club and it is thanks to all the foreign players we have the quality football we have and that has helped players like Bale to reach the level he has. We are exporting football players to Spain.

To the greatest team in history.

Says it all really.

Re:

Bales goal was actually well missable, his body weight was travelling backwards and he placed just the right over allowance to allow the ball into the net without a lace between the ball and post, looked at a bit of nothingness @ first glance. To think Southampton had him playing left fullback...honest to god.

Another long forgot about Brit export to Real http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/foot ... 18577.html. Seen him play and he had more in his locker than Barnes and Tueart (did i really just type that) but the mention in the article of him being something akin to johan is stretching it a lot (cryuff took Brazil to bits single handedly and played four positions at international level).

It is indicative of the level of interest in the game that we enjoy a final regardless of who is in it.

In the same way, I was delighted to see City win domestically. They deserved it.

Next year you are going to be shafted, as our Tulip Bulb explodes across the premiership!

;)

It says nothing really. At the top level we've had three or four in the last decade, and it could be argued Beckham was a commercial purchase rather than a footballing one. Prior to Bale, Owen (who didn't exactly set Spain alight) and McManaman you'd have to go back to Linekar, Archibald and Hughes, and they had the benefit of an English manager so not exactly a fair comparison.

Or are you talking about Jermaine Pennant and Stan Collymore?

Fair play to Bale though, has done very well when many thought he wouldn't like it. Great goal, great game and a final flourish by Ronaldo. If I was a bender... Nice to see Simeone doing his best Neil Lennon impression at the end too.

I think Southampton's production line of left sided players means they probably know what they're doing.

I can see how your confused Swanny, even Harry is ( http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... rwise.html ) ..though there are exceptions to the rule you'll not spy many world class left fullbacks with a back bale long..for a reason..and dreaming of allowing a stallion to stick the non penalty tackle-in..is considered to be very 'oh no Yoko oh no' . I actually spilt me coffee the first time i seen Fergie pick smalling for the fullback role, he'll never be able to blag fullback duties it in any team in a century of Sundays. I realise i might sound a bit of a prick putting Fergie and Rednapp right on the matter but there's no doubt both can be econimical with the truth and the proof is in the pudding.
