Really confused now.... wondered if you could give me some sage like advice. :?

Have a Gary Fisher Prometheus and was sure it had a 1 and 1/4 inch headtube and indeed the rock shox fork steerer I have measures approx 1 1/4 inch across. Great... I thought.

I'm sending the frame off to get some love and noticed that the Chris King No-Threadset headset looks like it reduces the diameter of the headtube. Was sure that all you had to do was measure the diameter of the fork steerer and you had your headset size but with the chris king headset in could this have been a 1 and 1/2 headtube which is reduced down 1 and 1/4 inch? Looking to sell the forks as 1 and 1/4 size so need to be sure.....My head hurts.

Last question promice, the crown race does not want to come off the forks, can I use any crown race for a chris King headset? Or will I have to buy one from them or is there a clever technique to getting them of the steerer? this one seems very stuck.

Sorry for being clueless hope you can help.

for the crown race : you need a CK , and a flat screwdriver and a mallet should do the job . little taps all around .

for the size of the headset . CK do some heaset which reduces the diameter , but I doubt they did it for the sizes you mention .

have you tried fitting the forks ?

I might be getting myself confused here, the rock shox came with the fisher and fit. the steerer tube is almost 1 and 1/4 inch so does this make them 1 and 1/4 forks?

If it's a CK that allows the use of a 1 1/8" steerer in a 1 1/4" frame, it should be marked up as a 'Chris King Devolution' headset
