I fixed cantilevers Forever. Trek 830

U guys are tools. Op came up with an elegant and tidy solution to attach 2 cantilevers to the bike, and you manage to somehow confuse that with v brake pulley accommodation and imlach's tuning peccadillos.
@gag4o you did an interesting and functional thing to your bike. Good on you, ignore the rabble.

The war's over, they won. You have to move on or it will eat you up inside forever. :)
There's no winners in this conflict....except those who remember the pre revolutionary standards and stick to them.....we are the winners.

Im purley fighting the lack of common decency of large corporations and their ideology that worse "quality" is somehow a step forwards.

Viva la revolution! Mr Shimano will be first to the wall! 😂

My wife calls me a sex machine.
Well her actual words are "you're a ******* tool" but same difference right?

I am merely the engineer behind the idea, basically an Igor, because no mad scientist ever made all the stuff they need to make a monster, but they get all the credit.

on the topic of the OP, I did do something similar with V-brakes but didn't want to weld to the frame so made clamp block that went round the seat stay with the pivot post on. it had to be set lower than the actual pivots obvs. used a BMX spliter to pull 2 cables, etc.

wasn't worth the effort, it was still a V-brake. :)

I might still have one of the blocks, I'll see if I can dig it out and take a picture.

Plus, you can use the beautifully crafted forged levers from the era of cantilevers, instead of nasty cheapo stamped out v brake era levers.
I just bought these. Equal pull and adjustable individually. Dia compe for BMX

Here is a serious question. I will get a new cassette. Factory is 7 speed setup, measuring the freehub it is 30mm. I know later ones with 35mm could accommodate 9sp 10sp But I don't want to do that as the wheels are also retro and straight. I have NOS 8 speed shifter and derailleur
and my question finally:
WILL MY 30mm FREEHUB BE ABLE TO FIT 8 SPEED CASSETTE?
