(makes personal note to never ride own Ti bike again)

I'd understand it if I did, but this was a few trail rides and about 1000 miles of commuting... Maybe there was a flaw in the welding which has caused it? Maybe I'm just too bloody heavy.

In any case, it's got to be done. I want my bike back

Given it looks like the failure is around the weld I'd think that could be sorted out for you. As others have said get in touch with Enigma.
