I cheated on my long term partner over the weekend!

Shock revelation resulting from this weekends activities!

Decided to do a little more tinkering this weekend and swapped cranks from the LTS to the RTS, having decided the RTS was more deserving of the XT with Middleburn rings, and that LTS would look better with a complete LX drivetrain, and also put the SPIN onto the LTS as I thought it would suit it more.

Then, on Saturday afternoon, I ventured out on her for the first time……….

and I think I’m in love……she is bloody perfect……climbs perfectly, handles unbelievably well on the downhill and simply floats over any uneven flat ground. As I had hoped, the Manitou’s work in harmony with the rear suspension unit.

And the fact of the matter is…..I prefer this bike to my RTS!

I tried desperately to find fault with the LTS, but I just couldn’t. This bike is now going to be my weapon of choice at MM!

I am sorry, I know have been with the RTS for 12 years, but sometimes the grass is actually greener..........

sure it's not just the Honeymoon period (to carry on the analogy!!)

Novelty might wear off and you return to your lon term 'partner'... :D

Looks really good though BTW.

Thanks :D

In a way, I hope so.

This was only meant to be a 'parts bin, spare MM bike special'!

Maybe she'll chuck me (get it! ) and we'll get a 'divorce'!

Must be love to have changed one's avatar from the rather splendid young artiste that preceeded the LTS!

Looks better without the decals too.

Yup, I'm smitten :D

Everything just went right. Its a (dare I say it) perfect bike!; goes up, down, left and right perfectly!

Yea, I couldnt stand cr4p decals, I dont know what I was thinking putting them on! I have another decal set arriving today/tomorrow/whenever RM pull there finger out, so I'll whack them on and post the pics up to get then general RB opinion. I'm not in to naked bikes really, they've got to have an I.D.

Can I ask a question from memory, Im not having a pop about bikes and I never was even lucky enough to ride either but I thought from memory that the RTS was a poor bike which was one of the things that suprised me on here as to how popular they are?

Like I said not having a pop about the RTS or anyones bikes etc, Just a quesion.

All depends on who reviewed it and under what circumstances. All that actually matters are the few lunatics like us that are keeping the things on the road (so to speak) and whether we like them, whatever our reasons.

Couldn't give a rats about whether some MBUK reviewer 16 years ago liked my ride!

Nice to see the old girl up and running so quickly and glad your LBS presumably got the play in the main pivot sorted. I remember thinking that the rear felt really smooth over bumps when I had it built up briefly - have a single pivot now with an air shock and it's a sportier ride but the LTS had much better small bump sensitivity. Glad she has gone to a loving new home...

Back in the early 90’s, the RTS’s were quite exclusive as they were one of the first full suspension MTB’s. They cost, from memory, IRO £2k + (my RTS-2 was listed at £1750). Compared to FS bikes of new, they probably aren’t up to all that, but BITD they were sought after.

Cheers mate 8) Yep, play sorted now. As you say, she’s really smooth over the bumps. A beautiful ride :D
