I am suffering enormously with wind!

We nearly got stranded in the Lake District, with torrential rain and predicted storm force ten winds. We go every year and I've never seen the water so high under the iron bridge at the end of our track. Mossdale beck and Lingmell Ghyll were filling the lake faster than the Irt could drain it so the parts of the road along the side were under water
On the way back the waves were crashing over the harbour wall at Whitehaven and there were lots of tree branches, mainly "Evil" Hawthorn- interestingly enough, making a nusiance for everyone. As you can see the journey home was not completly successful but I'm just sorry that I didn't have my camera when we had to nudge past the biggest Douglas Fir branch blocking the other line and coming half way up the windows.

It was peeing down earlier when I went to move a boat but within an hour when I came back the car was already covered in ash again! Just a film, but if it was not for the wind and rain it would be a couple of mm at least.

Now I know how they felt in Pompeii.

It's alright, it's Richard Branson who'll be losing his no claims bonus, not me :D

I used to work in Whitehaven, nice wee place. Used to go up to Carlisle at the weekends to party, can't remember the name of the place but it was a Rock Club, every second song was AC/DC and jeans and boots were de rigueur.

I would have wet myself if my train hit something hard. Don't mind accidents when I am driving but there is something about trains and the fact they are unable to steer around things. The driver must have needed a change of uniform!
