I’ve finally accepted my fate……….. is this sacrilegious?

Make sure you keep a hpv-style cycle handy too.
Of course 😁I'm sure you will.

We only buy/sell mid-drive ebikes, they are generally £1700up, but with bosch/yamaha/shimano the human and electric power is beautifully integrated.

We get wheelmotor ebikes through the workshop every day.
One guy's 1kW motor had torn the tread off a schwalbe marathon plus😬
Legal limit motors wear parts faster, but shouldn't break them.

The switch ebike kit at least has support and spares. Under 500 atm iirc so if you already have a suitable machine, it's a cheap way in.

You will increase your average speed and mass, so the brakes have to work a lot harder.
This is costing less than a good meal out for two. That’s how I quantify these days. I have plenty of tyres and those new fangled v brakes.

I converted a Orange P7 to Bafang mid motor electric for my commute as trip home is a long hill & a right chore after a long day of retail. LOVED IT! Quicker than the bus & not much slower than the car over 11 miles.

I believe throttle is legal on self builds but not on bought bikes. Always made for quick getaway at the lights.

Chain, cassette, chainring & jockey wheel wear was accelerated.

Now I'm voluntarily unemployed I've passed the kit on & back to unassisted. One day I may buy a proper ebike but not yet.

People talk a lot of nonsense about e-bikes, e-bike conversions and who uses them.

IMHO, they (legal versions) are superb. If you’re a fit healthy rider, they’re a fantastic tool for having fun, recovery rides or just riding more.

If you’re a bit out of shape or medically compromised they just make riding easier.

Love mine.

Haters gonna hate. Crack on and have fun, can’t wait to hear what you think.
