HTC HD7 opinions

Hi guys,

I've got one of the above phones winging it's way to me as we speak. I've owned plenty of iOS and Android handsets (iPhone 3g, 3gs, 4, HTC Wildfire, HTC Desire) and thought I'd give Windows Phone 7 a go.

I realise that the OS won't be quite as polished as either Android or iOS but if anyone out there has a windows phone 7 handset, I'd like to hear your opinion on it?

I don't want to hear any 'iOS/Android is the best' type-stuff unless you've actually owned and used all 3 operating systems because I've had a good deal of experience myself, and I want to make my own mind up.

I realise that iOS is probably the most polished out of the 3, but then it's the longest established so it's hardly a surprise. I just find it a little limited in it's capabilities which would explain why I've never owned an iPhone for more than about 3-4 months before getting bored with it.

I've read loads of reviews on the HD7 as well as the other WP7 handsets but there doesn't seem to be a great deal of information from people who have had and been using their phones for the past few months, since it was launched.

Thanks :)

There's a few user reviews here....

From what I've heard it's the usual early days type issues, not a huge amount to compare to Android/iOS but there's big things planned for it - for example why would Nokia be dropping Symbian for Windows if it wasn't worth it????

Also I believe the chassis is the same as the HTC Desire HD, which I have which I love, if that helps at all!?!

I like the Desire HD too... The only thing which persuaded me towards the HD7 was the fact that I wanted to try out Windows Mobile 7. I'm not overly fussed about the lack of multitasking or any of the other reported teething issues - i just want to try it out because I think it's got potential and it'll give me a better base to make my decisions on when the next wave of new handsets comes out... Ah, the benefits of a SIM only contract ;)

Not convinced by those user reviews though - especially when most of the users don't seem to realise that a smartphone with a big screen will use a lot of battery power, and the claims of the phone using a lot of data are down to the fact that they haven't set the phone up properly in the first place.

Owned many a Phone, Can't say i've played with a phone on Windows 7 though..

Best of the rest IMO is Apples iOS4 though..

It's a BIG list too, Let us know what it's like if you get one?

Because Symbian is inferior to both Android and iOS and Nokia have finally realised that if they don't cosy up to Microsoft, they're going to lose serious market share over the next few years?
