How to remove crank arm

jawa

Dirt Disciple
Hello all,

I would like to remove the crank arm off a 4-arm LX chainset so I can replace all 3 chainrings (they are all attached together from a 4-arm XT chainset)

How do I do this? Do I need a specialist tool?

Thanks in advance!

Post photos it will help as what I think you're trying to do may not be what you're actually doing but is it the spider you're trying to replace

I want to remove the arms of this old set of rings and put the arms onto this new set:

Need to take off the spring clip above the locking nut on the back then undo locking nut not sure of the tool part number but knowing shimano it won't be cheap you could try knocking it round using a drift but this won't be pretty and you'll need a new locking nut probably
