How to find a really old racing bike

I'd start watching 'Salvage hunters' starring Drew Pritchard! He goes to stacks of old farms
& big house, you see him go into many barn's & garages and lurking in them are very old bikes!

Some interest Drew and he buys them, some he just walks by with no interest at all.

Yesterday I watched one edition of salvage hunters and he was on a farm and this old guy
had got a mountain of vintage bikes, from 'sit up & beg' to old racers.

Normally in the program they tell you were they are going and this chap was in Norfolk but can't remember all the details.

Love this program and get excited when I see a decent racer on the program, wife thinks I'm mad!

I saw Drew on a program pick this up for about £100

Boston in Lincolnshire also has an auction which is held every wedsday, this is on the market and there is always a mass of vintage bikes, some for as little as a fiver.

Another thought. Its worth speaking to the National Cycle Museum in Llandrindod Wells or looking on their website, I know they sold off a few bikes a couple of years ago. They are pushed for space and sometimes end up with duplicate bikes.

National Cycle Museum Auction Sale on 11 April.

Well there you go :D

Very oddly they have an F.R Russell, that name jumped out because I had one myself. Nicely built and very rare I've only ever seen one other.
