How to extract Pro Floater pivot bearings.

I've finally gotten around to stripping my Mantis Pro Floater to send out for powder coat and I've run into a bit of a snag: The main pivot is comprised of 2 sealed bearings per side with either the frame or a hollow axle with the same I.D. as the bearings separating the 2 sides. Since the center section has the same I.D. as the bearings there is no inner lip for a standard sealed bearing puller to seat. A free-floating axle seems unlikely as I'm unable to tap the whole assembly from one side to the other.

Anyone here have experience with pulling the main pivot bearings from a Pro Floater frame that can help me out? :?

old 1" quill stem, hammer, or slidehammer, if that dont work you getting powder coat try some heat with it should do the trick oh an if that dont work try byin me a ticket over there an i'll do it for ya. :)

Are you suggesting to pound the bearings all the way through from one side!? So the center section IS a free-floating axle?

A little more detailed info please. Im not inclined to start whacking excessively on this particular frame...

Zero,

Can you post a pic?

I've extracted lots of old school bearings, but have never had to make a tool for the Mantis, I may have something that will work for you.

cheers,

rody

Hey rody,

Thanks for the reply. Alkabone offered some clarification via PM and got me on track. I'll post some pics of the pivot assembly and removal process as soon as I get to it.

Send your Mantis to me, I'll look after it while I come up with a way to get them out for you
