How should I modify/improve my STS ?

Get black forks on the sts and put the air shock on the rear best thing u can do tbh

Gfs sts is colour matched and works perfect
And my zaskar swapped out forks due to colour issues

I know it is a bit sad, but an RS fork and a fox rear shock doesn't sit well (no idea why, as it is probably no different to an RS fork and a Risse rear). Maybe I should get over this and just do it. Speaking of which, if I did, should I go for the Jekyll shock or the one I recently acquired on an LTS? The Jekyll has propedal and rebound adjust, the LTS fox has only rebound I believe (only got it yesterday so not had a good nose yet).

I've seen Look Fournales fit on those frames before, they could work quite OK with the aluminum linkages and the carbon fiber legs, they look more technical than the Girvins.
Or maybe even crazier a Hurrycat Vorace? The carbon legs are massive in diameter, plus you can set it up to have 100mm travel. (they're kinda heavy though)...

When you say complicating a problem that doesn't exist, could you elaborate? I've not ridden the bike since the nos super deluxe was added, but having read a few threads on here, converting to an air shock seems to have improved things at the rear, so wanted to try and get the best build I could.

I do have a nice set of F100x forks that are functionally perfect, but a little tatty paint wise, so perhaps these could be candidates for a crown respray and the new lowers I have fitted? That's not something I will get time to do for a good while though.

Do you have any pics of your build I could check out btw? Always nice to see what others have done with theirs.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound judgemental. It's just you are taking advice from everyone, including me, without experiencing the ride for yourself.
To me the joy of old bikes is the way they ride, good or bad. If you want a modern ride, buy a modern bike. I've had the bike since new and it came with a Coupe Deluxe but the spring was too light and I broke it over tightening the preload. The Stratos Helix was better, but I luckily got a good Super Deluxe through here and it is by far the best.

It may bounce more on the climbs than a modern air shock, but the suppleness is the great thing about the STS design. And for the record, my best climb time at Glentress by some margin last year was set on my STS, and apart from the narrow bars was great on the downhills.

That, my friend, looks bloody gorgeous. Loving the old-meets-new look.
For me I think I'd go with the Judy's then the SIDs, the others don't seem to fit the look quite right but that's me.

The weave on the STS frame is distinctive and unlikely to be easily matched, though the bars I have are an exact match strangely, some profile bars. Almost look as though they were made for the STS.

Some thermo bars like Scott LFX would match up perfect with the thermo front triangle.

I'll try to get a close up of my bars, but they are very similar to the above, they even thought about the use of bar ends as the ends of the bars are finished in aluminium. It was almost a shame to fit grips over them.

I am sourcing parts for building up my LTS Thermo. I am thinking of fittng a Rond Hydro Pro 3. I like the CNC/machine look. Maybe that could be an alternative for all the carbon forks?

I was wondering if the Fox wasn't too long as they originally came with shorter forks?

The Fox in the bike is dialled down to 80mm, not sure what the original fork would be, guessing Judy at 80mm, but many builds I've seen have sported dho forks which I've assumed are linger travel. I'm sure others can confirm the travel of forks originally plus alternatives and their merits. I'm an std newbie so learning as I go.

It's a good question though, hopefully some wise folk will be along to share their wisdom.
