The final cable loop is far too long (it should be almost straight), and the bracket it fits into on the mech. should be near enough vertical...

Like Stevo said. And make sure you don't lose the plastic ball, or you'll pe looking for balls from air guns and how to drill them with a hot needle. True story...

...but that's the plastic Avid Rollamajig, the XTR mech in the pic above doesn't have the ball.

Empathise entirely though; there are three of the damn things on my patio somewhere but I'll be b*ggered if I can spot them!
