These are cool, didn't realise they were so collectable.

Prices have gone up a lot lately. There's a lot of interest from Japan, and the current model range targets the higher end. The pound/yen exchange rate helps too.

A decent AM7 might have gone for £500-£700 just a few years ago. That one's very early (still has the tapered fork blades) and original, but it's a lot of money.

hate those bikes and all those silly fold away small wheeled contraptions.

Life's too short to hate bicycles. Try one some time - you might be pleasantly surprised.

the 531 models bend easily.

I haven't seen many bent ones - except one or two that have been in serious accidents. Maybe the people I know just aren't trying hard enough.
