How much?

living in new zealand and being into retro means I've probably spent more on pstage and shipping than actual parts!!!!!

Dont forget, there are always 2 elements to spending:
1) The true figure = the total amount spent
2) The wife figure = the figure you tell your wife you have spent, which is about 50% of the total cost

There are various other threads floating around with techniques for further spending and stock hiding.

The most common (and effective) 'wife avoidance' is to have parts sent to work!

Another good tip is to have occasional large clear outs with mad For Sale listings. This is actually a very good time to buy, as with many parts flowing back and forth, its easy to hide purchases and also easier to justify a purchase when selling, ie 'just buying this love, as this part sale will pay for this puchase.....'

The longer you spend on this site, the more 'tricks of the trade' you'll pick up

Pickle you sound like a pro!!

My Girlfriend is up Friday and I have already starting looking for evidence!! First thing I did with me new wheels is remove the price label!!

No, this is all quite wrong. Provided you invest wisely, the assets you have acquired should be worth roughly what you paid for them. So you have spent nothing.

As opposed to taking your wife out for a meal, in which case all you will have as a result is a pile of cr*p.

The solemn moral of the tale is that you can have a bike hobby without it costing you very much, whereas having a wife is ridiculously expensive.

And does your bike expect you to spend your entire life doing things you don't want to do? Does it moan at you whenever you propose to do something you might enjoy? If wives were more like bikes, the world would be a much better place.

Yeah, and your mates don't complain any where near as much about you having a ride on their bike.

Now you see, I've never had a problem with the good lady giving me grief for spending what is, after all, my money.

As long as my contribution to the mortgage and house running / maintenance costs goes into the pot, what's left is mine. Likewise for her wages.

Perhaps I'm just lucky, it's certainly less hassle from the sounds of things, not having to explain why I just paid over £700 for a rear shock for my motorbike

My money is mine, but when we can't go on holiday cos spent up....

Or when i'm gonna lay more time space, and holiday funds into another car/bike, yep i'm in hot water slightly, still free to do what I want, but dog house comes into it occasionally  , having said that, no prob with my new £520 custom radiator. :)

Good to see the bugs bitten you too :)

I subscribe to the theory mentioned above, If I won something on an ebay auction, there was atleast one other person out there in the world who was prepared to pay roughly the same price, therefore if all goes tits up, I can get most of my money back.
