How far gone is too far gone? (Yo content).

Crack build gets my vote!

Amazing.

Think of the spec you can run just picking up lost causes on the cheap!

Think of the excitement building when people see it in the shed from a distance...

I had similar with my Eclipse, the paint was wormed all over the frame as per the image. Shining a torch down the seat tube and it's junction with the top tube as well as the head tube and bottom bracket showed no rust at all that I could see, or at least nothing that didn't just wipe away. So I sent it off to Chris Marshall for a repaint. He confirmed that it was all just surface rust and the frame was good before respraying.
So...I reckon you are probably ok, but I did have the comfort of actually knowing that in the end.

I am facing a similar situation on my current build.... I am debating taking the frame to an acid dipping company, they will remove the rust and impurities from inside the pipe and unfortunately the original paint too. But as its not worth keeping it I might go for it.

Does anyone have experience of this?

I need to clean the inside and this process seems to be the only one that can do it. Here a video from a UK based company. Price 125GBP.
