How Does Retrobike Work?

i can't speak for John and his earnings as they are his business and not any of ours but as for the rest of us, no we don't get paid, i would be on here quite a bit regardless of being a Mod or not, i was asked to become a Mod to help out which i am happy to do to help keep this a nice place to be, i spend most of my Mod duties deleting spam before most of you see it though!

the site is funded as has been mentioned by the adverts, also the selling of the goods in the shops and the sponsors, i doubt it will ever make John a millionaire if that's what you were thinking though!

some websites do charge or ask for a donation of some sort, i hope we don't ever have to but i understand why some sites do, although usually it seems to be for use of the for sale sections as a seller, so effectively you pay a one off fee to beable to sell stuff for a particular period of time, the most common i have seen is something like £10 flat fee for a year to be allowed to sell any amount of items which if you were selling a lot would be a bargain by comparison with ebay or whatever.

i look at it like this, i advertised my car here a few years ago, it sold which cost me nothing, if i had stuck it on autotrader it may have cost me upto £50.

the moral is:- if you want to keep the site free you should buy the hoodies, t's, mugs, riding kit etc, that in itself is a donation but is one where you get something usable in return

:)

It's a great resource, some other sites are desperate to monetise their forums but I think it just puts people off.

^^^ what, you mean you are past it ? I'll take the one on the left

Not huge money in these niche sites unless they become somewhat unsavory methinks.

Just not into pain that's all...

Thanks for the info (and the pic!).

Thanks to John and the Mods for their good work.

Happy New Year to all,

Richard
