How do i find out when my Marin Muirwoods was made

main.php

this is mine same frame but the spec on mine seems to be better and mine is 1989 i know 100% that all is original as it has been my sisters bike from new and she gave it to me to "rescue it" from her foster kids

The fluro Marins being riden in the brochure scan are actually Pine Mountains. I still have the 1989 MBUK from which the picture was taken.

From memory the Muirwoods was also full fluro in 1990. The only bike in the range not to get Zolatone? :?

the numbers lie

my numbers made no sense either, i agree with 89 or 90 though

there is also a lot of variation between yellow bits, some had black stems or yellow, black bars or yellow, mine had black forks originally. also seat posts seem to vary from silver to black

Response from Marin regarding the year of manufacture.

Hi David,

Thanks for your message, looks like this model is in great shape for its age.

According my colleague who was around when this bike was built, this is vintage 1991.

Unfortunately we do not have touch-up paint. He advises going to a specialist paint retailer, they will likely a close match.

Best regards,
Tom

I intend to remove the rear rack, dlock bracket and the pump support brackets, to bring it back to standard form. Do you know how I can get some touch up paint to cover up the few marks that are on the bike?

Hi Charlie,

Please find attached the scanned image of the bike we discussed yesterday, Muirwoods 1989. Hopefully this is your bike. The original retail for this little beauty was £299.00

Kind regards

Debbie

I got my bike second hand in around 1990 too

the pdf she refers to is the one posted here already.

In 1991 the Muirwoods was zolatone and green, in 1992 it was back to being yellow and zolatone.

I do still agree that 1989 and 1990 Muirwoods were both yellow though

ATB Sales were who imported the Marins to England BITD by the way, and they have the catalogues still to this day with

I'm happy to stand corrected though
