How can you tell if a car is hooky or not?

Found an apparent bargain on autotrader...

Seems too good to be true, how can I prove it?

I've had a brief look at hpi checks and they all want £20 odd, is there anyway of checking the provenance for free?

look down the side of the car - any ripples? any shut lines that dont look right? Roof - any sign of distortion?

look at the trim, most cars have had date stamped parts for years, do the dates that you can see and get access to match the year of the car? glove box trim and fuse box covers are a good example. underside of centre console boxes etc.

Do the air bags look intact? passenger side is difficult to disguise if its been used.

I'll hopefully be finding out at some point today from Enid... Hopefully someone is just being a mug and I can get a bargain!!!

its worth more then that as scrap so something isnt right..ps they collect s well so its not like they dont have the time to do it....dodgy stuff...stay away..
