Hi,

I've fitted Hope XC4 brakes I had lying around for ages to my new bike.

After a quick service they work fine but the discs are sooo small. 130mm rear and 150 front. Odd sizes.
I've got 2 +20mm adaptor so I was going to put the 150mm rotor on the rear but I dont have a 170mm rotor to do the same on the front.

Has anyone come across any odd sized IS to IS adaptors that would allow me to do 180mm or even 203 ?

Thanks :)

I can laser cut you any size disc you want from stainless steel, they cost about £12 posted for one offs. Can put names in the braking surface too for that

That sounds like good value for hand made discs.

I've got loads of discs that I want to use but my problem is spacing the caliper to fit.
+20mm and +40mm adaptors is all I can find for IS to IS. This would give me a maximum of 190 on the front and 170 on the back.

Don't suppose you can make adaptors as well :?:

I've got both of those and more Laurence.

I've got a cunning plan mostly involving a bodge

I will update with my success or failure.

The XC4 was designed to run tiny light disks - I would either run them or try and find something else of a similar vintage, bigger disks depending on the use will boil those......

I see what you're saying Boxxer.

I'm thinking that with the effort at the lever required to haul a wee rotor compared to the effort required with a larger rotor would have them boiling quicker :?:

I have 1 finger braking with the saint brakes and 203mm rotors on my ATXdh with no boiling\fading, even at Fort Bill !
On my Planet X with the same brakes but with 160mm rotors the brakes are more 2 finger and do fade\boil on longer courses.
TBH I probably do more braking on the Planet X though :)

The XC4's will likely never see the use\abuse as my other brakes but if I had canti mounts on my new frame and forks I'd be sticking some V brakes on to Improve the current braking situation.

I just fancy a wee bit extra power and feel out of the XC4 brakes.

I'll try my bodge I've got in mind and see how I get on.

I'd only run them upto 170/150. I had 150/130 on 2 full suss kleins, then my Bonty ss and never had bother with either. Yet i know some people struggled with them.
