Just picked this freehub body up for a hope ti-glide hub. Think it is campag 8 speed, can any campag experts confirm?

Also anyone used the miche campag compatible cassette? Not sure if I understand correctly but looks like they manufacture both 8 and 9 speed blocks to fit campag 8 pattern?

I have an 8 speed Campag hub on my Vitus at the moment, with a Miche 8 speed Primato cassette.

The lockring thread diameter for 8 speed Campag freehubs is 29mm so you should be able to just measure this to check. The first 9 speed freehubs were then 26mm up to 1999, and later 9-10 speed are 27mm.

Miche make 8 speed cassettes that will fit a 9-10 speed freehub but I didn't know they made a 9 cassette that fitted an 8 freehub. Which models are you looking at?

Re:

Certainly looks like Campag 8 speed with those evenly spaced shallow splines. IIRC back then the Campag ones were steel and that looks like aluminium which could mean a fair amount of bite with those shallow splines.
I thought the move to alu was a mistake on Campag's part when they went 9 speed but I've not had any problems with their 10 or 11 speed cassettes chewing up freehubs so what do I know?

Regarding 9 speed cassettes on that body I'm not sure how Miche would manage that unless they have some trickery going on with offset cogs as the 9 speed body is wider than 8 speed but I've not researched it.

Mark.

The ID of the freehub thread is 28mm which points to 8 speed.

The Miche website would appear to list a 9 speed cassette in 8 speed pattern, model is CAPR9BM.

good point ref 8 vs 9 width, 8 speed is 36.9mm (from sheldonbrown) with 9 speed being 38.2mm

I've got a nos 28h ti glide sitting in front of me with the exact same freehub. It also measures about 38.2mm. . Pretty sure campagnolo is what it is .

Sorry have to admit to not having a clue about roadie freehubs, so if theres anything beyond the one above and shimano, sorry If im confused. Outwith Campagnolo, shimano and goldtec i wouldnt recognize it :)
