I am currently using stock Hope organics that came with it and they stop me great using a front 203 and a rear 183 rotor. They do squeal occasionally when wet but I find pedalling with them half on stops that (not for the rest of the ride I might add). When these die I will probably shift to sintered to see how they go for winter.

Yep me too. Organic on the 203 front and Sintered on the 183 rear. Use these all year round and had no problems what so ever.

I'm going to try Superstar Components Kevlar pads front and back as they get really good reviews.

Yeah,i prefer hopes stock pads too,i know i can roast them if with a blowlamp should they become contaminated,without any problems.

Well I'll be able to see how the stock pads run tomorrow evening, all being well. She's stripped down and cleaned, ready to go to the brake doctor tomorrow.

The shop doesn't have the front 203 in a package with the brakes, so I'll run the 183 and see how I get on. If I find stopping power is lacking a little, I'll upgrade to the 203 at a later date.

Well the brakes are fitted and so far the stock pads have been fine. They squeal a bit in the wet, but once the water burns off they are fine. The proof of the pudding will be riding on a dry day...how long will that be at the moment??

I was able to remove the XT gear display housing and move the shifters to the outside of the Hope levers. I found the perfect position where I could get 2 fingers on the brake levers, while leaving the gear levers in the perfect position for finger reach without getting in the way of my fingers when on the grips.

I spoke to Hope this afternoon about another issue and took the opportunity to ask about cleaning their rotors to get a 'definitive' answer. They recommended Isopropyl or Meths but said they use Meths themselves.

Well I've plumped for the Hopes with floating 183 rotors and braided hoses. They better stop me without squealing, or else I'll be brandishing them like bolas and hunting you lot down.

Odd. When my Hopes squeal I usually just drip some water onto them and it stops.

Maybe English water has different properties?

This is the position I found to work well with both brake and shifter levers.
