I recently bought these wheels and brakes in the following thread and I'm now offering them up for sale at the same price:

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... ht=#780965

NOW SOLD

Hope Ti glide Hubs, 9 speed block, Hope skewers.
Rims, Mavic 317 Disc rims, straight and true.
Hope XC4 calipers, (about 10 years old) Front rotor 150mm rear 130mm.
Hydraulic line length Front 750mm rear 1350mm

After purchase I discovered one piston remains out in the rear caliper, it will push back in but needs stripping out and cleaning. I've bought a full set of seals for the calipers and levers and a new set of pads, all boxed and all included in the sale.

The price also includes shipping by Parcel Force 48hr and will be sent the day following payment, unless it's a weekend in which case they will be sent on the Monday.

My reason for sale? I've decided to keep my existing wheels and V-brakes on my Trek and would like to recoup the money I spent on these to put towards another bike...which finishes on ebay in 3 hours, so don't hold back with your offers. :D

Edit: I removed the 'Mavic 317' stickers from the rim after purchase, they were a little tatty and starting to peel.

(tyre not included on wheel below)

Hi, I've the same set of brakes that I need to overhaul. What model are they and how did you identify what kits you needed for the service? I have a suspicion I'll need whatever is going, do any help you canb offer would be handy, albeit expensive for me.

Thanks

Ian

£135 for those is IMHO an absolute bargain. back in 2000 1 hope tiglide on 317 with 1 xc4 cost me well over £350 from memory!

i've recently stripped and changed the seals on a pair of xc4's. its pretty straight forward and the document that nick links to is all you need.

problems i encountered

1-the piston is screw in and hope recommend a "large" flat bladed screwdriver-large is an understatement and i couldnt find one large enough so i had to bodge it a bit with a pin spanner and some pliers.

2-the hose to caliper aluminium shroud if seized up is a buggar cos the metals really soft but replacements are readily available. think the hose is 5mm, but email hope tech support, they are super helpful.

my rear xc4 was only just able to lock the rear wheel before rebuild(runnning the standard 135mm disc) but after a seal change its really improved massively.
they are not the best brakes hope ever made, but for the weight and for light xc duties, plus the ablity to adjust the pad position easily on the lever plus they look cool as with the CNC detailing- i havent been able to jutify getting a new set.
