Thinking of buying a bike and arranging to go and have a look, looks really good other than the attached photo which shows a slight flat spot under the S? He said it happened a few years ago and had it inspected and nothing has come of it since ( no crack, paint crack , creaks etc)

Would it put you off? Anything to worry about?

That doesn't look too bad to me, depends on the price and wether you would worry about it?

If it was a bargain I would ride it, however I do have a tendancy to not think about what might break/go wrong on the old bikes I have- which helps.

Just my 2 cents.......

I would always be "concerned" riding a bike built built so serious that had a ding in it unless ofcourse I had done it!

What may look innocent may indeed be far worse behind the scenes

But at the end of the day its just my opinion.

I don't think price should play a large part because it won't make any difference if you paid £100 or £250 if your on the bike and it fails.

Dont learn safety by accident.

MHO of course.

Question is, will it bug you?

All depends if its a bargain too.

I thought you were a GT man anyway?!

Look's like he's T-boned a log  , would,nt put me off but as gaz said it should be reflected in the price.

Went to see a bike recently that had paint flaking off behind the headtube, that would set off more alarm bells than a shallow dent in the middle of a tube.

you are spot on LMTTM- price should never come into it however I'm a miserable B@stard  and a bargain always superseeds relative safety in my book (my repaired GF is a case in point)-all about risk/reward and I am the type of guy who would buy halifax shares

Flat back, fill it, paint it, decal it and forget about it. So long as it is straight etc I would'nt give a dam, use it as a bargaining tool just like you would with a dented used car.

Thanks for the input..

Look's like he's T-boned a log

10 points to that man ... Thats what he said he did!!

Would it bug me... Not really aslong as its not going to fall apart and he said once cleaned you dont actually notice it without looking for it.

price wise for the spec its alot cheaper than I have seen, And I like the fact that he seems very open and honest and sent about 50 photos to look over before coming to look.
