HONC 2014 RIDE CHOICES? ENTRANTS?

Re:

just got the gpx file to load into google earth. As a local i know all the climbs bar the first which I'll ride this afternoon and take a few pics. Doesnt look too bad if you're used to going up between 10 and 20% for a mile or so each time.

Better drier route than last year.

Well that was. Interesting. Strava showed 25% at one point. I reckon they'll do well to put a harder one in so if you get up and down the first five miles you're home and dry.

Did make me reconsider the bike choice though. Very bumpy field descents as the ground has hardened up. Don't think 30 odd miles of that would be much fun. Had enough after a mile or so. If it softens up rigid, as is, hard tail.

wanna see pics?

Good grief the Cotswolds have changed a bit recently.

I'm doing it on Sunday, can't decide between the 50 and 100 route and I'm doing it on my Raleigh Mtrax.

Re:

Well, a little pootle through Winchcombe then turn left up here. It starts fairly sensible but gets quite narrow for an early climb and a bit rocky.

You started in the village down there. Strava says 551ft at an average of 10%

Today, I will be mostly trying the same bit on a skinny kona kula with bombers.

Re:

I might chuck some lighter tyres on and ditch the dropper post to save some weight.

I will be bringing up the rear if anybody wants a nice leisurely ride!? :D
