homemade spiked tyre

I'm going to give that a go as last year I encountered Glentress as a skating rink, those tyres would be great.

Seattle couriers used to do that to an old set of tyres then using an old slick tyre with the bead removed between the screw heads and the inner tube. Heavey but cornering at angles of lean in excess of 45 degrees on sheet ice possible

for those who do not want to play with screws

a french buddy tried the Schwalbe Ice Spike

mtbr comments are good

and himself was surprised by effectiveness in the snow

God I could do with a set of them going to work in the morning is a NIGHTMARE!! are they usable on road or purely for off road use?

Old tyres are cheap, screws are cheap, time I have plenty of. Purpose built tyres are NOT cheap, only worth investing in if you live somewhere with ice covered roads for at least a couple of months

It was for the Cresta Run feature - Where the dude who had the M-Trax went with Phillipe Perakis to do a mountain run down the bobsleigh

Had or have it somewhere at the rents....
