Devout Dirtbag
I cuurently have a Race Face X Type bottom bracket and understand I can replace it with a hollowtech 2 shimano one (They are cheaper).

My question is whether or not all shimano hollowtech 2 bottom brackets are compatiable particularly deore.

Help!

As far as I am aware the X type is the same as HTII, so a Deore BB will work with your RF X type crankset.

or you could get a hope one over the deore one and then you'll get somthing that will last god knows how much longer average mark has been tring to kill his for nearly a year now he's the same guy that killed an xt one every three months just though amount of miles and usage and his hope one is still a rocking, i have them on the giant and the genesis silky loverly dont'a worry parts  fit and forget

must admit i do splash out on the hope ones now. Though saying that the last XT one i had was lasting really well till the threads went on it somehow :?

O, and stay away from Superstar components ones.

Beware that the XTR BB's are only for XTR cranks.

On the Deore / XT ones you can actually remove and replace the bearings if your carefull.

A Deore is ony £17 though.
I bought a Hope yesterday, but if I hadn't I would buy another Deore and replace with XT quality bearings (2RS1) when it broke.

The Race Face ones on my Rocky Mountain were fine until a muddy race. They lasted 2 x 8 mile laps before they siezed. Replaced them with Hope and highly recommend them too.
