North Yorkshire moors. Its my favourite riding spot. You have Dalby if you like trail centres and some of the best moorland singletrack on earth if you don't. Even though it's a national park, it never gets busy.
I camp behind the Mucky Duck pub in Newton on Rawcliffe. Basic but quiet campsite on the edge of the moors- plenty of room down the bottom of the field under the oak trees and good ale and grub in the pub. There is single track and a whopping downhill just the other side of the fence (800 feet in just under a mile) that brings you out into the forests north of Pickering and on to the moor. There are hundreds of routes within a few miles of there for all tastes. You might even find Gil_M propping up the bar! Camping is £5 a night, I think there is showers and the toilets are clean.
Im going to try and run the aborted North Yorks Dirty Weekender in the spring and now have the go ahead for a largish group on that very same campsite and will be down to recce the route in December before polling for a date.
I have about 25 routes on MemoryMap for this area if you need any ideas- just shout! Its a lovely area to spend a few days- you'll not want to leave!
