I'm off on Holiday next week and there are some nice cycle routes around the site and in the local area. Some of these will be tackled by just me others with family in tow, this means that sometimes I will have to swap bikes with the wife as she has a trailerbike on the back of her Trek for my youngest son and it's not fair to make her tow him all of the time.
I can't take both bikes due to lack of space so which would you take.

Retro - Claud Butler Anteaus Linked Below, this encourages me to ride a bit faster and is slightly less comfortable, will be great for rides on my own but will frustrate when out with family, also my wife doesn't like to ride it as it's a bit long and flat for her. It is retro cool though.

Modern - Kona Kula 2008 upgraded to full XT drivetrain, can be ridden fast but doesn't encourage it so much, comfortable for longer rides, wife is happy to ride it. Not really that cool though.

Conversely. .

Oh look at you on that modern rubbish.. what you need is a decent retro ride, I've got this old <insert wishlist bike here> in the shed - yours if you want it

fo the sake of harmony take the Kula.

if she's prefers the kula she'll have more fun and then you can get her a retrobike all of her own.
Which you can give a vigorous shakedown ride, maintenance ride, bedding in new gear cables rides etc ;)

Hers is a Retrobike, a Trek 850 we brought new in about 1996 or 7, been slowly upgraded over the years so it's now a bit like triggers broom, but she likes it. It's just when it comes to swaps she prefers the Kona.
Might have to give it a thread of it's own.

Carl.
