Holdsworth/Tommy Quick

Hi all.
I am doing some research on Tommy Quick. I was wondering when he started building for Holdsworth at the Putney Shop. The info I have says he took over for Reg Collard when he retired in 1970. I was hoping someone might know when he first started their? Thanks

Re:

Wileyone,

This is what I've been going by from a communication by the late Norman Kilgariff's :

"So this is a rare Italia, because it was made by Reg, it is a special build, later Italias were made for stock and so would not be made by Reg. TCQ, CR or Alec Bird would do them and maybe elsewhere. Stock serials have a K added at the end."

And this from Classic Lightweights altho doesn't discuss association with Thame and Putney Shop per se:

"Tom is now in his 80s and was building bikes for most of his working life, he built his first frame in the garden shed, took it to Holdsworths and asked them to check it over and they offered him a job as a frame builder so that was where he started.
He later set up on his own building frames in the back of the Don Louis shop in Dulwich Road (early 50's according to advert) then opened his own shop just a few doors down the road. "

Need someone with first hand experience to chime in although sadly getting late in the game for that to happen.

Very interesting article on a site I've not seen before. Some long reading spells beckon I reckon! Thanks.

Subscribing. When searching for the builder of my Roy Thame frame (mid-eighties?) the name of TJ Quick came up as well.
