hold on a moment, that's no hybrid!

No Bold Claims, the advert says it all. And Yes I have confirmed the current owner knows as little about it as someone who got it for a fiver down the pub, like his ad suggests.

Would it stop me having a punt, NO, but I would be taking the Alsatians with me to collect. Its not the best area in Plymouth to be fair.

Definately looks like an Orbit to me. In which case, this is likely to be a bargain for someone. If only I had room..

Something fishy about having a rusty seat QR on an otherwise pristine bike. Did the owner leave it locked, without seat, and it was stolen in that state? Rusty QR and random post and saddle added by criminal bike theft gang a posteriori?

To the skilled eyes we have yes, but to many no, hence it's good to know you've established contact. Still, innocent till proven guilty and all that :|

you pay the money you take the chance, a little like life.

it's a 20-odd year old bike.

it may have legitimately left the ownership of someone with any interest in it a long time ago....

I was told Barne Barton, but he would be happy to meet me at what use to be the Old Fellowship pub.

Make of that what you will.

Quite Possibly. Just don't collect in the dark and on your own.lol

Me thinks the illuminati of the site are showing themselves up...

Sirius were an outfit in Coventry that have a complex, inter-woven history with Orbit, Bromwich, Lee Cooper and other Black Country firms. They mostly did road stuff (which regularly appears on eBay) but MTBs are ultra rare.

Lee Cooper (who worked for Sirius at the time) pretty much confirmed to me all brazed Orbit MTBs were built by Sirius. At the same time (1990-91) they knocked out a few under their own brand.

I picked up a repainted Orbit-like frame last year and eventually narrowed it down to being a 653 Sirius. Sadly there was a big dent under the paint and some brazed-ons were hacked off so I haven't done anything with it. Another member had a 653 Sirius back in the day: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... mp;t=18207

I'd be all over this one if it wasn't a 6 hour round trip from civilisation.
