They're pretty handy

one part clamps on the seat binder (if i remember) and you clamp the other section on the seat post where you like it. The idea being that if you need to drop your saddle height for say downhills or if your mum pinches your bike to go to the shops, it will reset the saddle to the original position afterwards.

Breezers were generally fitted with these new as no doubt others will confirm

While riding along? Impressive

The idea is that, if you have a perfectly reamed and smooth seattube, you can undo your QR while riding, and lower or raise your saddle to the perfect height.

It's one of those things that you either know about/want or you don't...
