Himalaya Condor - what's that?

Some time ago I bought this frame because I like elevated stays designs. Anyone knows anything about this frame/brand?

Well, let me start by saying that I think that is a beautiful frame-set you have there, I particularly like the paintwork.

I couldn't find any specific information regarding the Himalaya model, but I would presume that the frame itself was an attempt by an already established road racing/touring builder, namelyCondor, to cash in on the MTB'ing boom just as Cinelli, Peugeot, Trek et al...had done around the time. I could be barking up the wrong tree entirely here, so forgive me if that's the case :D.

I'm rather intrigued by the Trek USA decals present on the frame. I'm unsure as to whether this suggests an affiliation between Condor and Trek, or if an individual fancied re-branding their frame :). It's conciveable that Trek may have acted in an advisory role for this frame-set, as their company background is in road cycling, as Condor's was/is :?:.

Either way, I'd be very intrigued to learn further information regarding the frameset, I do love a good fact finding hunt, you know? :)

If this indeed a Condor bicycle, there's some good information in a thread started here, not long ago in fact. Have a look:

There's a particularly interesting post by a member who's trying to indentify his own Condor MTB.

well after a few emails to Condor, it turns out they believe this bike isn't a Condor. Here is a reply from one of my queries.

Hi Shane

If there is no code stamped onto the bottom bracket shell then i can confirm this bike is not actually a Condor. This adds up with a few other 'non condor' clues such as the dropouts and brazing detail.
Apologies for not being more helpful, I've shown other staff members and no one has had any ideas.

Hope you find the information you're after and if not enjoy the bike!

Please feel free to contact me if you would like any further information.

Kind regards

Ben

There is no serial number anywhere on the frame and the stickers look like they are in different places apparently :?

So now I am unsure what the heck this thing is?

It may well be worth you e-mailing Condor themselves in an effort to identify the frame, they seem willing to answer e-mails - always an encouraging start :).
