Hi fellas, can anybody help on this hi fi query....?

Got a Teac mini hifi system (approx 4 years old) which has a usb port allowing an ipod to plug into the front & run through the system. I can also record cd's onto the ipod ( I think!) Anyway this all worked fine with ipod classics & nano's but will it fudge with an ipod touch.

Any ideas or are they just not going to work? maybe I can get a software update form Teac?

Any ideas welcome!

cheers

Martin

Might be because the Touch doesn't have "disc mode" enabled, which lets the hifi read it as if it were a simple external HD. And I don't think that you can enable it - there are various bits of software to let you read/write to it from a PC as if it were an external drive, but that won't help your hifi. There must be a regular line-in on the hifi though?

Thanks for your response Mike

So I could just use it by running it through the headphone socket?

Yes I am an uttter plum when it comes to audio equpment!

My knowledge of ipods finishes at 2006 when I was working on a service contract with Apple, I have a later classic but thats it.

Option 1:

Does your Teac read MP3 via the USB port? If it does, reload your music onto Windows Media player or similar and bung it all on to a 2.5" HDD caddy:

Just done the same so the missus' JVC USB stereo can read all her Westlife tosh.

Option 2:

Connecting your Touch via the headphones wont be satisfactory as the headphone output isnt very loud (not enough oomph) - bung it on an ipod 'dock' with the audio out socket and this will feed the hifi with the correct amount of signal.
