hmmm what do you win,, well now you have given me the info on the frame im gunna strip the paint off and re-paint, im gunna have some nice decals made so you win the knowledge that you have helped a fellow human being (i use this term lightly) with inspiration all i need now is to save for the thumb shifter i seem to have lost,,, oh bugger

Sounds like a reasonable prize, good luck with the build!

that mad frame

Hi Jay the frame you have is a 1992 verlicchi and be aware in your build you will need an Italian threaded bottom bracket. These can be bit of a pain to get hold of this is one the reasons I sold it to you back in the mists of time. Keep us up to date on your progress.P.S I finally got the Pace rc200 I pined for and it is nearly ready to roll. All the best Squid.

squid i didnt think id find you on the world wide web,, good to hear from you,, the bottom bracket is gunna get cleaned n re-greased as its still serviceable, havnt done any on it due to having the first of the operations for carpal tunnel,, i have also decided to make my own springs to replace the elastomers in the forks,, cut down motorcycle fork springs fit in the fork legs :) and an anti-roll-bar bush from a car as a top out bump stop :)

SPRING SOLUTION

The springs plan is genius just a bit concerned about what you are doing about rebound damping, because as a big lad if it is not right those forks will be almost dangerously bouncy. Some kind of bottom out bumper is just as important as the top out too, I know this from a failed one on a pair of Pace rc40 xcm fr 140 s.Believe me it will drive you mad as a fork is going to bottom out far more often than top out.If this is not the case then you need to run a much more heavy spring.Sourcing the Manitou 1 elastomers could be hard but it would save a lot of brain ache.Squid

ill post fotos when i start it, but the springs are from an old honda cx500 (progerssive springs) they have tighter wound section at one end so i was thinking if i use part tight and part loose ill get the progressive fork spring that will accomodate my heavyer frame of a body lol,, im also tempted to put an ammount of oil in there to act as a damper, not sure that the dust seals will keep the oil in but i recon its gunna be worth a try
