superb!the forks have had it so need a different pair.

Sure they don't just need a wipe down, some fresh oil and pumping up to the correct pressure ?

Bare in mind that modern forks tend to be longer in the legs (and a lot lot heavier unless you spend ££). Though if you buy forks from around the same era it should be fine.

yer i no what your saying but i carnt see i longer fork doing much harm to the geometry though can you?the forks that are on now when i ever i drop off a kerb etc they make a bad clunking noise like they are bottoming out but the wrong way if this makes sense

That would be lack of air in the forks and possibly lack of oil. Means they will top and bottom out. i.e. there is nothing stopping thee lower legs just flapping up and down.

Well the forks are most probably around 40mm travel, going to the small end of modern forks would be 80mm though I think they are still overall longer that the 40mm increase would suggest. It would probably sit the frame at modern what's the term... FreeRide/Downhill ? frames are sat at? <hell I have no idea of these bikes> (~68.5 degree's in the head, longer forks making this even slacker.)

yer I see what you mean.So I need to look for a older set of forks with around 40mm travel?or find some one that can recondition my forks.Although I used to work at falcon/claudbutler bike factory I have no idea what to do inside suspension forks.

You can put more modern, longer travel forks on that bike if you want to-it will slow the steering down just a little in the tight stuff, but will be more stable at high speed in the rough stuff-you could also rebuild the stock fork for not too much money-probably less than a new fork would cost.
