Sure they don't just need a wipe down, some fresh oil and pumping up to the correct pressure ?
Bare in mind that modern forks tend to be longer in the legs (and a lot lot heavier unless you spend ££). Though if you buy forks from around the same era it should be fine.

yer i no what your saying but i carnt see i longer fork doing much harm to the geometry though can you?the forks that are on now when i ever i drop off a kerb etc they make a bad clunking noise like they are bottoming out but the wrong way if this makes sense
