I'm a big kona fan but imparticular steel ones.

Can any give me a little more info on the cinder cone if poss, cant seem to find a picture on the net for some reason.

Hello, welcome to retrobike, I believe your Cindercone is 1996, anyway have fun here.

it is indeed a 1996, block style downtube decal with jungle style top tube decal.

race light decal shows it was non-suspension from the factory, suspension option had a "mountain shock" decal in that location

i have the equivalent lava dome if you want to compare <link in sig>

Cool thanks. I actually bought it as a frame only from second level back in the day. It's been in my shed for ages waiting for me to do something with it. I've had the explosif since new but now it needs to go I think, desperate need of a rear disc mount.


Ive actually been looking for an old original Bontrager frame, the olive green coloured one with white bits where the decals are. does anyone know the one i mean?

CCE - did that mountain shock or race light decal determine a difference in geometry or just whether it left the factory adorned with suspension or not?

Gus- frame geometry was the same, the decal just matched the fork option the bike came with.

Rich- you mean like my Bontrager then? Actually mine has yellow and silver decals, but Gil_m can sort you out with decals of whatever colour you like if you can source an olive green frame...

1991 onwards they went 1 1/8" on nearly all frames
