so i recently bought this frame of a guy i know, was sold it as a klein. i took it into work to get some card to wrap it in until i could afford to build it up. first thing one of the blokes said was 'haha that aint a klein'.

it weighs 1.8kg and has a 31.6 seat post, thats about all i know about it.

the more we've looked the more i think he's right, cant find anything that has similar dropouts or anything, and most kleins seem to have huge head tubes, unlike this.

help me please :(

It is a Klein.

Pulse (Comp,Race or Pro, same frame on both models) from ~1997-1998 by the look of it. Not as posh as the Attitudes and Adroits as doesn't have full gradient tubing (only the rear end), no press-fit BB, and no internal cable routing or MC headset but still a great frame, and arguably more usable due to having normal BB and headtube.

go here for 1997 catalogue, page 12 and 13...

and here for 1998, page 11 - 14...

it even has the klein K logo stamped into the (highly distinctive rear entry) drops....

Tis a 97 or 98 Pulse in what looks like "Large" size. Top tube cable guides were angled the other way in 96.

Many have been repainted by now as the factory paint is very fragile.

i too concur that's a klein pulse frame, as i have one haning in my cave
as already mentioned, the rear entry dropouts are a dead give away of it being a klein, never mind they're stamped with the klein logo, and the older ones are very different , ie larger headtube, regular vertical dropouts, internal cable routing.

i think the snobbery is more aimed at its age and heretage rather than specific model from what i can establish
