Having recently decided to take up road cycling again after a few decades of mountain biking I find myself with a small collection of vintage steel (the whole family decided to get in on the act!) that requires some fettling.
To start with the easy stuff I need some advice on tyres etc. Recommendations on makes and sources appreciated.
1/ 700x250? black with amber side wall
2/ 27x11/8? black with white sidewall
3/ 700x180 tub
I may have read these wrong but after something relatively cheap and hard wearing, preferebly recognised brand and in keeping with steel bikes from the early 80's. The latter tubs seem tiny so would like something more substantial if thats an option. Overall we're going to be touring on less than perfect roads and puncture resistance is more important than weight/performance, in effect the sort of stuff you'd put on a daily beater.
Would really appreciate some advice on what I should be going for and any possible deals, good sources.
