I was cleaning a nice st m 900 setup, almost never used, and unused since long time.
The 3x front shifter was a little gummy, opened it, the grease inside looked a little stiky to me .
Then I went with WD40 and then a liquid teflon spray oil, sprayed on the mechanism.
Now it is not skicky, it goes up well (from inner ring to bigger ring), but in the reverse way it goes directly from outer ring to inner ring, jumping the middle one. What's happening?
Many thanks for suggestions

From what I understood looking another shifter, it is not too much sticky and the mechanism gets back really fast and jump the intermediate tooth.
So, what is the sticky grease it is used and how to bring it in the original state? Cheers

Re:

I know little about m900 but, that is quite a classic problem with alot of shifters. My DX did it. various exage did it and i was concerned that some rapid fire LX were gone the same way. However, doing what you have done many times has sorted out the indexing.

I expect, unless there is a mechanical failure, missing teeth, selector arms, pushers etc...then the gummy mess has just been pushed to another place.
Keep up the routine and soak the internals over night, see how that goes.

ciao!
