Help with Rockhopper Sport 1993

Hi guys, new to the site, joined up hoping somebody could maybe help me out.

I have an old rockhopper sport that I am trying to breathe some life into.

It has an Shimano Altus A10 crankset on it. I've looked about but am unable to find a straight replacement or any information on an alternative.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers

If you look here

it had an Exage LT originally (at least in the US). If you look at the other models, it was the plain Rockhopper (not Sport) that had an Altus A10.

If you want to stay period correct, I suppose you could look out for any of the chainsets they used for the other Rockhoppers that year as an upgrade.

Thanks for the replies.

To be honest the crank would probably be ok, chainrings look a bit rusty and not in very good nick. I'm a total novice at this and have just had my interest in cycling reignited and thought a rebuild would be interesting. I guess I thought I would need to swap the whole thing out. The chainrings are sg-g26, sg-g36 and g-46 with 5 bolts, I have had a look for replacements but couldn't find anything.

Any help would be appreciated

You need to measure the distance between the holes in the chainset to find the spaces, ie 94m 110m and look for rings like that. Should be plenty available.
