Retro Newbie
Good morning all,

I wonder if anyone can help me with identifying an old frame I have had for many years?

The frame number is 4052 and on both the BB and steerer. the number is at right angles to the BB and close to the drive side of the casting. The bb is quite plain and has no cable guides brazed on. The bike is fitted with brev.campag 'short' dropouts front and rear with mudguard eyes. The lugs are long spearpoint with the exception of the 'plain' bb.
The rear stays are wrapover style. The forks have a lamp boss on each side.

The frame has a pip for down tube lever and has a rear cable stop along with 2 top tube cable guides that are mounted underneath the top tube, but canted towards the right as if you were riding the machine.....

I seem to recall the frame having the remnants of a very tatty and almost illegible CB head badge, so always thought it may have been a Claude Butler, but as we know anyone can apply transfers!!!

Whilst chemically stripping the old mid blue paint off, the seat tube had a very feint 'reynolds' engraved/etched into the tube

Any advice anyone?

Many thanks in advance!!

Allan Sidney

Welcome

Pictures as ever are worth a thousand words as they say. Two lamp bosses are unusual and may be bosses for cantilever brakes.......

Thanks for the reply Shaun,
I have tried uploading photos but states that my file is too large (1 photo only!) and i have no idea how to reduce...???

Several others of my vintage machines have either lamp bosses or canti brakes, and these seem to me to be obviously lamp bosses ...................

Here are the pics......any of the frame and seat stay wrapover? Blimey, it does look like two lamp bosses!

Might have been someone who ventured abroad as well as UK although he would have needed a left hand lamp bracket as well!

How about (very) heavy duty rack attachment points?
