help with gears!

gear prob

now ive thought longer and harder......chain and cassette intolerance is where my money's at. ive had this before in those gears aswell. i bought a brand new and a used cassette and the teeth appeared ok but theres an x-factor as for their compatibility despite our knowledge. a new cassette sorted my prob, hope you get it sorted mate.

its the only thing left to try really isnt it,im happy its not the shifters as its definately not trying to shift gear, just slipping.
maybe the person who used the cassette before me never changed gear so this sprocket has more wear than the rest?

im having a similar problem with a 9 speed drivetrain, tried two different drivetrains now and i reckon its the cassette (second hand but looks mint), it gets funky when trying to go down into third and up into seventh. will report back when ive sorted a cassette

gear prob

that was my woe cyfa- 9 speed deore 2nd hand, looked ok but slipped with a new chain. typically in 6,7,8. i binned it and got a new xt one.all sorted.

Freehub body?

May be that more torque is required to turn the wheel when using smaller sprockets and this extra torque is causing the ratchet mechanism to slip?

I have had this happen in the past. New freehub body solved the problem.

not freehub as have tried 2 wheels, its got to be the cassette.will pick one up tommorrow...fingers crossed.

Let me see, a used cassette, new chain?

My own rule has always been new cassette new chain, unless it's hardly used.

I am assuming the high stop screw is properly adjusted and there is no play in the mech, with forward skipping it quite simply sounds like a new cassette and matching chain is required.
