Hi guys,

I sold my touring bike on ebay recently and quoted the postage as £19.99 from memory. However over the course of the auction I through in loads more bits for free and now the box is huge and heavy. The frame is a 22.5" anyway and a fully loaded touring bike with lots of spares is big.

The box is down to 150x77x22 and 15kg ish which is the best I can do. Does anyone know a courier who can take it?

The guy who I sold it to is in Arundel East Sussex and I am in Nottingham. He said his mate would pick it up from me originally and then he no showed earlier this week. I've offered to meet him halfway on the M1 in mIlton Keynes and he's not going for it.

He's holding me to the courier thing but I can't find anyone who'll take it, let alone anyone who'll take it and be vaguely near my £19.99 quote from memory. The best I seem to get is £42.

Please help I really need the money and am scared of losing the sale. :(

IF you can get it down to around 100cm max length, parcel2go is you friend

I managed to send 30lbs of LTS for around £20

I think the frame alone is longer than that. I am going to have a try though. It's fairly rediculous as is. There must be something else I can do. It's just very frustrating this whole deal.

Thanks for the help though.

Parcelforce, should be under £20 for 15KG, don't think they care about size. Express 48 is only £50 compensation as standard though, just pack it wel.

Some of the parcel services will do larger but you have to declare it (and pay the extra premium.. inevitably)..

Just going through senditnow.com on a 17kg 45" long parcel and that'll come in under £15 I think..

Parcel2go, who I would normally use, wanted £20+vat..

ParcelFarce would also do it too I think.. but going direct to them could be very cost ineffective :?

senditnow.com got my business for £10.50!

However parcelforce also took my money and screwed up the order earlier so until I get my refund I am out the best part of £35 overall.

Thank you to everyone, this has been very stressful as I am out of practice with sending huge heavy bike bits.

Have a good weekend all.

Cheers

senditnow ended up at £11.99 with next working day delivery.. was booking as I posted and didn't know whether it was plus or including vat ;)

I sent a bike via parcel2go the other week - when I entered the dimensions it came up too big on there auto-sizing interface , used the "live chat" bit and was straight through to real typing person. They sent a link that would get to right package type/courier - came to around £20 with insurance. This was in a standard bike box from local shop - so ~130cm long, 90 tall and 20 wide.
