Help to identify this Tierney

GarethF

Retro Newbie
Hi, I've decided to venture into owning an older bike! Currently ride Specialized Stumpjumper FS, Boardman HT comp and a Specialzed Allez road bike. I've searched high and low on Google to try and find out about this bike I have just purchased but no luck. Is it worth restoring?!
Details:
Tierney
Full 531 reynolds
Full 105 componants
Campag drop outs 1970s?
Frame number FC4246
Thanks in advance!

Lovely looking machine for sure , condition wise is ok by the look of it and us regular older biker owners call that patina .

If it was mine i would give it a clean and lube then ride and enjoy the craftmanship of it all .

They were based in Aigbuth Rd Liverpool , looking at the kit fitted i would say late 80's build , although the 531 sticker is older style

Frame screams 1979-81 ish and looks to have had a make over for the 1990's with the champagne finish 105 parts.

Re:

Great help already!
I was thinking the componants didn't seem right but nice quality. It has light blue under the damage but my concern is now questioning if it is actually 531. I was going to run it as a single speed for the summer whilst working/building money up for new drive etc

Everything seems to be free apart from the stem so that is soaking in oil as we speak. Down side is all my modern tools are pretty much useless on this project!

Well worth keeping/restoration good lug set, drop outs nice finish to seat stays no reason to think it"s not 531 I couldn't imagine a frame builder using that quality of parts on "Gas Pipe tube"
