Help stuck crank arm

I can't get the none drive side crank arm off, I've tried hitting it with a rubber hammer a few times & it won't budge even after soaking it in WD40 which worked a treat on the drive side. I don't have a crank puller & was wondering if there is another way of getting the crank arm free from the sq taper BB without damaging the arm as it's in great condition & want to use it

One way but its not the best but will come off in the end is to ride your bike local with out the bolt in until it comes off the crank arm should be ok as well. you will feel it come loose before it comes off 8) just pull it off then

if it won't come out with this, try heating the crank arm around the taper with a blowtorch / heatgun then use the tool.

its not expensive and buying a better quality version will inevitably save you money each time you use it.

Seriously mate. Just buy one. For a fiver, your life will be so much simpler. Get one.

If you intend titting around with bikes on a regular basis, you then need, a chain whip/cassette remover, cable cutters, decent allen key set. You can then tackle 90% of jobs.

I've deformed quite a few square taper crank arms in my day doing that by accident.

Yep, buy the tool. Taking your cranks off should be part of a proper strip and clean anyway, every time you do it you'll be glad you have the right tool.

Insert a spanner between the frame and the crank arm .

I take it the drive side is off .

Take out the bb gently , it will pull the crank arm towards the frame and the spanner , and it should come off .

I have to echo what others have said and advise buying a crank extractor.

You'll only have to buy one, and it will do the job for the majority of retro bikes that you work on.
