help please with broken jockey wheel

it is only a cheap alivio 8 speed mech..but i do a forty mile round trip each day: on the way in this morning my chain started to slip under load...checked what i8 thought was everything then (just) found out the "top" wheel is broken(teth missing)..question is would it be worth trying to swap"top for bottom to get me home? thanks for any advice..it's a bloody long walk otherwise!

IT should get you home, top is probably more important so give it a go, if it fits and turns then no problem, but let the bottom slide on the bolt if need be.
and buy a new one.
