I need to know what diameter a 1997 Orange P7 Seatpost should have, the one fitted is not correct...

would be nice if someone helped out.

thanks

i had a '96 model and i think it was 29.6 but it was shimmed to 27.2. if you give orange a shout they are usually very helpful,

their email for general enquiries is [email protected]

hope that helps

jon :D

by the way, mention this site if contact them, they know about it and a couple of the guys from orange are members but keep it quiet so they don't get millions of questions!! :D

 , 3 entries for P7's , 94-98 , 98-05 and 06 onwards.

I shimmed out my P7 but used a plastic shim because I had to hacksaw the original post and shim out after oxidisation welded them in.

sorted

here's the thing, my old bike apparently had a 27.0 post jammed down, so there is no chance this bike have been delivered with a 27,2 post original. I remember that post slided easily. But the shim used on my old Orange seems thicker and made of steel. It camed with an unit sporting a Orange logo. I got the bike as a sponsor ride so it was probarly a excibition bike. It had a Indy SL insteed of the XC, XTR rear mech, and so on. But well someone at the Swedish Orange office must have changed the Shim!

mystery solved, I told my friend who now ownes the bike, to get a smaller post if he wants to be able to move it up and down, we did manage by force to get it a bit higher, so for now it's sorted.

Thanks for all of your help!
